Introduction

The Include or Exclude options in Acronis Backup are important tools for managing backup storage effectively. This feature is particularly useful in optimising storage usage and ensuring that only relevant data is backed up.In server setups, there’s often data like logs, caches, or local backups that don’t need to be saved in backups every time. With these options, administrators can customise their backup plans to prioritise important data and skip files that are less critical or temporary.By using these options wisely, you can save storage space and make your backup process more efficient .

Step 1: Access the Backup Control Panel

1.Login to your Backup Control Panel from your client area.

Step 2: Managing Backup Control Panel

2.After logging in, click on Manage Service under the Protection section.

3.You will be redirected to a page where you can view your activities.

4.Select Devices from the left side menu.

5.Under All machines choose the specific device for which you want to make modifications.

6.On the right side, you will see several actions.

7.Click on Protect to view the backup details for that device.

8.At the top right corner of the details, click on the three dots icon, then select Edit.

Step 3: Modifying Backup Options

9.Select the Backup Options , locate File filters (Inclusions/Exclusions).

 Under this section, you can find:

 Include only the files that match the following criteria: Acronis will only backup files from specified locations.

 Exclude the files that match the following criteria: Acronis will exclude files from specified locations.

10.Please specify the path of the file/folder you wish to include/exclude in the spaces provided above.

Examples for specifying paths:

F???.log
*.log
C:\Data\Finance\F.log
/home/user/Finance
/home/user/Finance/F.log

11.After making all necessary modifications, click Done.

Step 4: Finalizing Changes

12.On the top of the Backup details, you can save your changes.
