Introduction

In this article we will explain how to connect FileZilla FTP client with Plesk. FileZilla is an open source FTP program for Windows, Mac, Linux, and FreeBSD. With FileZilla it is possible to send and retrieve files to an FTP server over multiple connections, allowing you to upload and/or download files faster.

Step 1: Find FTP user name

To find the FTP user name you will need to log into your Snel.com client area and navigate to the dashboard.

After click on the arrow on the right side, then click Login details.

From there you will need to use the hostname and password in Filezilla itself.

Note: Hostname will be used over IP as it will as IP addresses dont get a security certificate, whereas hostnames do.

Step 2: Setup FileZilla FTP client

If you don’t have FileZilla downloaded you can get it here

Once you have downloaded FileZilla you will have to fill in the following fields:

  • FTP host You will need to fill in the hostname of your website and be sure to add ftpes:// to force the use of TLS security connection on the client
  • FTP username from the first step
  • FTP password

Once done, click on Quickconnect.

Note: You may get a warning asking if you want to trust the certificate, this will always appear no matter if its valid or invalid

With a successful connection your websites data will be listed.
