Change the authoritative nameservers

Introduction

In this article we will go through the steps to change the authoritative nameservers. Authoritative nameservers provides actual answers to your DNS queries such as – mail servers (MX records) or website IP address (A or AAAA records).

Prerequisites

  • An account with Snel.com
  • A registered domain

Step 1: Log into your account

To change authoritative nameservers, you will have to log into your account on Snel.com

Step 2: Choose the domain

After you have logged into your account, in default overview of your services you will find an overview of all your domains. Click on the the domain that you wish to make changes for.

Step 3: Nameservers section

On the same page if you scroll down, you can see the server names  of current authoritative nameservers.

Click on “Manage Nameservers” to proceed to the setup.

Step 4: Change the authoritative nameserver

Fill out the nameserver fields and leave the IP fields empty. Having multiple nameservers will help your domain remain functional even if one nameserver becomes inaccessible or inoperable due to configuration or availability issues.

Step 5: Save changes

Save your configuration by clicking the “Save changes” button. You have now successfully changed your nameserver(s) for your domain.

Remember that after submitting these changes it may take up to 48 hours for the changes to be propagated worldwide before they become effective.
